Second Week

The second week was also the last week for me, since I travelled back home on Saturday.

After a real fun weekend we had to go back to school on Monday. I was really tired and decided, once again, to sleep a little bit longer. At 12, Ellis and I decided to go to the beach because the weather was really nice. The sun was shining and there was a little warm breeze. We bought some fruit and drinks at Tesco for lunch and made a homeless man very happy with the pieces fruit that were left. When we finished our lunch we walked back to school through Churchill square, which is a huge shopping mall. I got a Starbucks Red Berry Yoghurt Frappuccino and then continued our way back to school. In the evening we, once again, sat down on the beach to watch the sunset.

On Tuesday I decided to walk to the Beach Huts in Hove, which is more on the west side of Brighton. It was just a 20 minutes’ walk and the area around the Huts was stunning. There was almost nobody on the beach and the atmosphere was really nice. Also, when you visit the centre of Brighton you see mostly Hotels along the Boulevard but in Hove there are actually houses and apartment blocks which makes the place so much better.

On Wednesday Ellis and I visited the Brighton Wheel. The view we had from the top of the Wheel was amazing! We were able to see the hills that were behind Brighton, the Seven Sisters, the beautiful beach line, the Royal Pavilion and that list goes on and on. Also, the weather was amazing which made the trip a lot better!

On Thursday I woke up early to get the most out of my day. I decided to walk to the ccity centre and wandered around the streets of Brighton. I discovered places that I had not been before and had some more shopping. In class our teacher told us that we were heading to The Lanes of Brighton to do some research on the 'Haunted Stories' of Brighton. When you search Brighton on Google, you will find that the city is partly famous for its 'Haunted Places' and paranormal activities that local people still cannot explain. We first got a cup of coffee at a 'Coho Coffee' in The Lanes and then split up in groups of two. Sandra and I got to the Lanes and looked for some Local People, who seemed to be nowhere! We then decided to go to the Angels Bakery where delicious cupcakes are made. We bought some cupcakes and got back to the Coffee places. In the evening Ellis and I decided to go, once again, to the beach. The evening was really nice and had a beautiful sunset. Once sleeping, I woke up around 12.30 because of all the car alarm's that were going off. I realised that the car alarm's were going off because of the really hard rain and thunderstorm which was insane! I have never experienced such a thunderstorm! Around 3 am the thunderstorm was mostly gone and I got back to sleep to wake up again at 4.30 of another thunderstorm which was less heavy than the one before. Once I got back to sleep, I slept untill 9:20 am, got some breakfast and walked to the city centre and beach. On Friday my day was just basically going to the beach, buying some nice presents for my Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister and the last class. In the last class we played some games with a dice to check if all the things we had learned, were still in our mind. Also, in our last class we got our Certificate which was for me on Advanced - C1 level with a 6 out of 7 total grade. It was a weird feeling to have my last class of these two weeks, it went by so fast. In the evening Ellis and I went to the beach to watch the sunset for the last time. Once at the beach, there was a huge thunderstorm coming up and we watched the lightnings coming down in the sea. When the thunderstorm came closer, we decided to get back home safely.

Saturday, which was my last day was really warm and nice. In the morning we got the beach, had some lunch and walked through the city centre back to the residence. I left by train at 13.24, which was really early. Once at the Gatwick Airport trainstation I had to find my way to the North Terminal since I was at the South Terminal that moment. I had to take the shuttle to the North Terminal and brought my suitcase to the bag drop and checked in. Once I left my suitcase and checked in, I could continue to the security check. When all of this was done, I was feeling a bit weird because I left my 'home' behind. Brighton really feels like a 'home' place for me, I love it so much over there! My flight eventually left at 7.30 pm, one hour late and I came back 'home' in Holland at 9.40 pm Dutch time. After long waiting for my suitcase I could finally get to the exit at 10.30 pm.

I'm home, back in the Netherlands!

Love, Rixt
